What is True Strength?

I was watching Ouran High School Host Club when I came across this phrase when Suou Tamaki was talking to Hani-senpai in episode 18.

To me, this phrase means a lot... so I thought of sharing it.

"What is true strength?"
"..to hide your true self and make a vain display, I think that is just running away from reality. To know what you are really like and acknowledge it... a positive thinking of enjoying yourself, isn't that what true strength is?"

Well.. I was having a chat with Dear recently about how I can act so differently in front of some people and others. The change in my behaviour and attitude is significantly different, and frankly speaking I find myself tire of all these pretenses. Throughout my life, I have suddenly become a person who's so afraid of how people see me that I lost my true self trying to be a person that is acceptable in front of everyone. Because of this, I realised that I find no meaning to get to know more people since I have to create a fascade everytime.

It is a little too difficult to change the way things are right now, but I am going to make sure that once I start anew in a school next time, things are definitely going to change.

Who knows I will be more adept at managing a class with the true me.. ^_^

Busy Busy

I have been in a holiday mood since the start of school even though I have 7 modules this semester. I was really playing with fire. Now I'm having my recess week and many assignments are due around this period, and it's time for me to rush like crazy again!

Hopefully I'm able to pull through because somehow my brains this yr is in sleep mode! haa.. May no mishaps happen till I graduate next year! *crosses fingers*

And to others not so busy... have a good recess week! And to those in my situation, stop procrastinating!! ^_^

My Birthday Weekend!

First of all, lemme thank my dear for being with me over this past few days and enjoying my birthday together! It may not have seemed much, but it was more than enough for me! Hee.. okie now time to go into the details of what we did over the past few days!

The first event was on thursday evening, where dear's mum treated us to a good meal at a restaurant in vivocity called "Wood". It was quite a posh place, where they use real and different kinds of firewood to cook the food, thus giving the dishes a rather special and unique taste that is different from what one can find in other places. We ordered a couple of starters consisting of smoked salmon and scallops, which were very tender and succulent! After which our main course arrived - lamb chops, beef brisket and some duck meat which were all cooked in various styles and each had their own distinct flavours. Given a choice i felt that the beef brisket was the best among the lot though, as the beef and the accompanying potato really went well together and gave the melts-in-your-mouth feel! The table beside us ordered some sri lankan crab that looked delicious too, but in the end we ordered a pizza after we were done with our food as we felt not full enough. Last of all was a small piece of cake that was supposed to be my "bday cake", and that was pretty good as well! hmmm... overall i would say that the food was more unique than anything else, and if one is looking fer great tasting fare such as steak then i would say its better to go to a real steakhouse! But, thanks Auntie Irene for the dinner treat!

The next day, me and dear planned to head down to the flyer for our free teacher's day rides! Before that, we went to sunset way where dear treated me to a Rocky's pizza. I have to say that it serves the best pizza i ever tasted in singapore, and for quite a reasonable price too! the only drawback is that is located in clementi area, so its pretty far for both of us, though we were lucky to have the car free on that day! Sadly enough, by the time we were done with our meal and arrived back in Toa payoh, it was already pretty late, so we decided to postpone out flyer trip to saturday. Instead we went down to my place, where another surprise was going to be sprung on me, though i have to say that i suspected something of that sort would happen... anyway my 2 "brothers" came down to my place at 1am in the morning with a bday cake and tried to surprise me. unfortunately, it was on one of those days where i was sharped and more observant as usual, so the surprise was quite ruined as i noticed the various smses that dear kept receiving and did not wnt to show me! Anyway, i want to thus thank my 2 good pals for making their way down just to eat cake and have a chat with me on my bday at such a late hour!

Oh before i talk about saturday, i also want to thank my dear again for the simple but sweet bday present that you gave me! Though it may seem simple, i feel that the meaning is more important than anything else, and i'm sure we'll fill up the bottle as the years go by, and decorate it too!:)

now on to saturday, after a long night's rest, we headed down to the flyer to get out free rides. Saw quite a few fellow teachers/nie trainees there too.. i guess all of us were taking advantage out of the free rides.. those who know cindy can ask her how many times she went for it!hur hur... the ride lasted 30 mins or so, and hmmm well.... it was not the most impressive thing ever, but it was something different, and the views that it offered were not too shabby! the next time we will be going back there will be when the IR is all done up, so that we can see the changes that have taken place by then.. after getting off the large wheel, we walked to fort canning where my parents wanted to treat me to a dinner "Legends Garden", since there was a promo for cheap peking duck there. It was quite a long walk, and by the time we got there we both had aching feet and poor dear had to contend with a few blisters as well.. *sayang*.. The food was typical chinese fare, with cold dish, shark's fin, the aforementioned duck and others, but all the dishes were very well prepared and fresh as well.. so the dinner was pretty good.. So here i wnt to thank my parents for this meal! We even had time to play mj after the dinner by asking cy to come down to my place, though that meant that i was pretty tired for my tuition this morning!

Overall, it may not have been the most happening of bdays, nor the most glamourous, but the fact that i got to spend the 3 days with the people closest to me - my dear, my family and my buddies was more than enough for me! so once again, a big thank you from me to all those i hold dear in my life!

PS: thanks to MOE for FINALLY giving me my stipend on my bday too

Movie Review: Wall-E

Alright time for the next movie review! For today it will be a review on the animated Pixar film, Wall-E. A great departure from the film in last review, Wall-E is a film that will appeal to a wider audience, and it is full of laughs, cute robots, light-hearted humour and touching moments. At heart, the film is about the love story between Wall-E and Eve, the 2 main lead robots of the film, and this is enough to hold the film together, and the best moments are usually when both of them are on screen at the same time.

The animation is also superbly done, with the renderings of celestial objects like galaxies and stars being particularly eye-catching as they seem to be in 3D and popping out of the screen. The robots are also well designed, and Wall-E is definitely one of the cutest animated characters I have seen in a long time - the way he moves, "talks" and the things that he does in order to be with Eve are memorable, heart warming and comical too. Kudos to the Pixar animators, who seem to be improving on each movie they release!

One of the messages of the show was also how humans should look after Earth, and also look after themselves. If not they risk becoming very very very unhealthy. I shall not spoil things for those who have not seen it, but really, after watching the show one may feel like exercising more!*looks at tummy and sighs*

oh watch out for the cleaning robot too! i think he's hilarious!

Meng's Sports update 2

Alrighty, it's time for update 2! First among the news is that the transfer window is finally closed, and clubs can now start to focus on matters on the pitch rather than off it! 3 things that i felt were the most important in this just concluded transfer window.

1. Ronaldo staying at man utd is one of the highlights. After a few months of courting by Real Madrid, Fergie manages to get Ronaldo to stay, maybe for just another season but at least that allows time to look for replacements etc. I feel that this may be an important move, and convincing him to stay is much different from FORCING him to stay! (read next bit of news to see what i mean). Though Ronaldo may have had his head turned by Real, at least he did not throw tantrums, and never did he once force the issue. A man to man talk with Ferguson solved the problem. And I cannot deny that though he almost cost us the Champs league final. without Ronaldo we would not have got to the final in the first place!

2. Berbatov is here! Finally, after months and months of checking the net daily for updates (sorry dear dear), man utd sign him on the final day of the transfer window, in the final hour! gosh it was close, and it was expensive, but that's all in the past now. I feel that his style suits man utd perfectly, a player with flair, strength, aerial prowress, vision and the knack for the spectacular. He may not be the quickest player on the field, but hey! He's a targetman/striker, not a winger! Anyone who has scored vs chelsea and the other big clubs are certainly welcome to join man utd. Let's hope he scores vs another big club on his debut on the 13th, which is when man utd play liverpool! Also anyone who turned down 150k-200k (according to reports) contract by another club to come to man utd also has my approval! But who offered him so much money???

3. The answer to that is Man Ctiy, the "new chelski" in my eyes. After being taken over by a billionaire oil sheikh who is supposed to be richer than chelski's Roman, they went on to spoil the market by offering crazy money for many players on the transfer deadline day. Bids for David Villa, Mario Gomez and yes, Berbatov were all made, and the total cost of that alone would be around oh..... just 80 million pounds at least. It was crazy stuff, and spurs(idiots) actually accepted the bid from man city, so as to, i think, force man utd to up their own bid. Well they succeeded, but the point is that it shows not all players go for the $$$$$! Prepare to see more crazy money bids for players by man city when the window reopens in Jan! Oh maybe a 100million pound bid for kaka, another 200million for messi,.... you never know with all these billionaire buggers. At least man utd do not anyhow anyhow splash the cash about.. makes you wonder why 1/3 of the world are considered poor and in need of aid.... sigh...

oh before i end, good to see that Fraizer Campbell has gone on loan to Spurs for a year. Hope he gets more exposure there, and maybe score against the pools, arsenal, chelski n man city !

shitty life

I am in this mood where I find school is meaningless, especially when you have a few lecturers that irked the hell out of you. There is this module that I absolutely detest and the lecturer is a real freak! Who the hell sends loads of email to just for one single announcement?! At her age, I'm terrified to think that she's actually treating us like penpals where she can blabber all she like by flooding us with all her emails. GET A LIFE HAG!!!

Now school I hate going, and worse, home is no better! Both places have people I absolutely cannot stand! I am always in a foul mood coz I see people that I don't want to see and have to endure useless one-sided conversations. Is there anyway to shut my ears?! Or better, send those I hate to another dimension? Somehow for these past few days, I have been cursing them to die every single day. Is it possible that my curses will come true?! I'm truly hoping.

From what I have typed, many of you must be feeling that I'm really crazy and cruel to curse people like that. But to each of its own, I just want a peaceful life, and with all these annoyances from the time I wake up til the time I sleep, I'm nv going to get one! And most often, I'm frowning most of the time unless I'm home alone. That's the only time when I truly feel happy and of course when my Dear is around!!

ARGHZ!!!!!! DAMN THIS SHITTY LIFE!

Meng's Foodie Review 1

Just came back from a good dinner at this snazzy place called the "Grand Shanghai", which is located somewhere along havelock rd near Grand Copthorne hotel. The decor and feel of the place makes u feel as if u were in 1930s Shanghai, e most impressive of these is the live singing of chinese oldie songs with a live band at e front of the place. I have to say tat e singers were all pretty good too! n yes u can request songs to be sung( but pls dun request stuff by jay chou etc), and yes u can request bday songs too (in english, chinese n cantonese - i know cause i heard all of them, with a total of 5 bday cakes coming out on seperate occassions!!). Thus for ambience and service i would say that tis is one of e best i;ve been too so far.

Now on to e food! First up was a cold dish, with jellyfish, shanghai drunken chicken and sweet deep fried baby eel. I tot e dish was excellent, and e 3 kinds of dishes complemented each other very well. Next was the sharks fin (yes i noe some ppl dun approve of tis dish, but i did not have a say in e dishes since i was not e one paying!), n i have to say it tasted different from e others tat i have tried before. This one had a hmm, how to put it,.. slighty "roasted" kinda taste tat i loved, and gave e broth much body n flavour! After tat we had a veggie dish with mushroom n chicken, which is well.. normal.. but also tasty. Fourth dish was steamed Partin fish, which to me was steamed just nice, and e fish meat was fresh, soft n succulent! yummy.. but i tot e garnishing was a tad too salty though...

next up was e salted egg prawns! yummy.. just like e peach garden ones, these were delicious, except that they came with their shells on unlike those in peach garden. Nonetheless they were still savoury! High in cholestrol though..:(.. after e prawns came e "Wuxi pork ribs", which were very well done.. e most tender pork ribs i ever tasted, though in terms of taste fer e sauce i still prefer e western BBQ style! But still, e ribs were soft, fatty and juicy..so 2 thumbs up fer it too!
Afterwards was prob e most disappointing dish, tofu with spinach, also similar to peach garden.. cept tat i feel e peach garden one tasted much better! e tofu was not as soft n tasty as compared to tat.. e last dish was Crab meat xiao long bao. which was not bad.. but then again i would not say tat its better than those at ding tai fung..

last but not least was e dessert! it was "mi gua xi mi lu", or mango with sago.. sweet, cooling n refreshing.. e perfect way to end e dinner n to cool down after all e heavy n rich foods served beforehand! oishii ne!~~~

Overall, e meal was great, e ambience was great n e food mostly was great too! e only downside is e price, so unless i feel rich or i kanna 4D, e chances of me going back there fer a meal are quite low..:(.. but will wanna bring my dear there one of these days! think she will enjoy it as much as i did! Thanks to my sis-in-law Erica fer treating e dinner too~~

Introducing 2Lovables ^_^

This is my favourite class during my third practicum. I was posted to Pei Chun and this is 2L aka 2Lovables. The name comes from their class blog where their teacher, Miss Chua, named them as such. But they are really a lovable bunch!

It was a joy to have them and going to their class is always a joy! I really enjoyed my time with them!!

This is my last day with them and I had Miss Chua to take the photograph for me. hee. (I look hideous here though =|)

These are their group photos. The names are really interesting and carry the theme Ocean Animals, I believed.

I always have a hard time remembering their groups' names and after so long, I really cannot recall. So just enjoy the photos!

For those that heard the 'terror' story of a cheeky boy calling my supervisor, Mrs Daz, a crazy woman; that boy is Ryan, the one in yellow. And the righteous boy that decided to inform her is Liang Hong, the boy in blue behind the girl in red.

Hubert, the one beside Ryan, is the IT monitor and he always help with the equipment when I'm helpless with it. Look at him, he's as cheeky as he looks. keke..

And of course, girls are always make of sugar and spice, they're the good ones of course!

Look how cute and happy they are! hee.. Timonty, distracted boy in green, wants to be an IT monitor, hope he gets it.

All of them are very hardworking boys and girls. Keep up the good work!

I have to say this group is the most active of all and often get my 'words of wisdom'. haha.. And I know this group's name! It's Kind Dolphin, stated on the whiteboard! keke..

Junwei, the boy in blue at the corner, is my other It monitor. Also, a very helpful boy. =)

Though easily distracted, they're a bunch of wonderful kids that always brightens my day. ^_^

I have to say that this group has most of the brains of the class. hee.. But do not mistaken that as quiet or subdued, they are none of that! hah.

Yu Kang, the boy beside the girl in yellow, is the one that could not promise me to behave, but I'm glad he made effort to improve. =)

But I have to say, they give me the best work ever! ^_^

hee. Need I say anymore? From the pic, you can see how cute they are already! haha

One last candid shot before I go! *sob sob*

I'll miss them, they are really a fun-loving class. Hopefully they'll still remember me if I go back again.

Want to see their blog? It's here!

YEAH!! I DID IT!!

Okie.. I can go to bed now. ^_^

I Kinda Did It?!

Hmmm... somehow I managed to get everything back to normal, but the weird thing is that the colour did not change for the latest post title? I'm typing this to check whether this is the case. If so, I believed I leave it be and go to bed. Otherwise, I think I'll be too frustrated to sleep. *sighz*

This is one bad habit I should kick.

FEELING IRKED!

I am awake at this ridiculous time even though I have a 830am class this coming day. *arghz* And it's all because of this html code that I cannot figure out! It is frustrating!! I do not understand why the colour could change for the old posts for title and any colour changes made during posting, while the new posts cannot!!!!

This situation reminded me of my time in JC when I was trying to debug my program for project. It caused me many sleepless nights because I'm too stubborn to let it go!!

IT'S THE SAME SITUATION AGAIN!!!! CAN SOMEONE HELP ME?!?!?!?

Thinking Back..

Sheepy's Post: ^_^

The dinner last Sunday was really good and I don't mean just the food. It was great to have all of us, the Jiemeiz, gather together! I hope it is not only me, but I always enjoy my time with them! hee.. And this makes me think of the start of our friendship and the "sisterhood" (the "" is just to show that not everyone are girls =P) Hmm.. think I'll write an entry about the history of our sisterhood since it has been like 7-8yrs already! I will also post our past photos till now. hee.. it'll be interesting to see how we change throughout the years!

Just a little message to my JIemeiz:
All of you are my precious friends and sisters and I'll treasure and keep all of you for a long long long long time. And from the efforts all of you have been making to keep our little tradition going just show that you guys must feel our friendship is as important too! So let's continue our efforts to keep our sisterhood going! And also remember that all of us will always each other when we need somebody... don't ever forget k? ^_^

Our group is getting bigger and livier! Now we are only waiting for one more entry! hee.. Dajie JIA YOU!!

Meng's Sports Update 1!

Let me start by saying happy birthday to yong n jerry! tks fer e dinner too. it indeed was delicious!

Okie lets start with some sports then, most of the time it will contain my thoughts about man utd.. but sometimes there may be other sports as well la.. so bear with me k?

First up is e olympics! Singapore finally got something to cheer about when we brought back the silver medal for e women's table tennis team event. I feel that is a pretty good achievement for our country. Hopefully tis will see the sports take on a bigger focus among e people of singapore in the future! Also, is it me, or are people just getting too fast/strong/fast-reflexes than before? just look at all e records being broken in the olympics!

Next of course will be about man utd! Well e first game of the season is over, but it was a pretty disappointing one.. sigh... i felt that fergie shld not have put oshea on when carrick went off injured.. oshea is an Okay defender.. but a midfielder he is not! fergie shld have just put on Posssebon, who when he came on passed e ball around with much greater effiency and creativity. E youngsters fer tis season are all pretty exciting, with Possebon, the Da Silva twins all impressing me from wat i have seen so far..

E most important thing fer me now is the NEW SIGNING which i am sure almost all man utd fans are looking out for! i hope its berbatov, but any striker who is above average will do fer me... Berbatov really is e best choice fer me though.. as he really is a great player who i feel will fit well into the current man utd team.. rooney n tevez will absolutely LOVE playing with him in the team! hope some new faces will be in the man utd team soon!

Happy Birthday ERJIE & XIAOMEI

Today had a good dinner at Raku Zen in Millenium Walk! It was a joint birthday treat from the two Leos, Jerry and Yong. AGAIN, they combined their treat even though the other 3 of us stated at the beginning of the year that it should be split up since it's utterly 'lugi' for the rest of us. But oh well... at least the dinner was good, and we had free drinks after watching the Olympics Table Tennis Finals. hee..

Anyway, ONCE AGAIN!
HAPPY Belated & Advanced BIRTHDAY!!!! ^__^
Hopefully you guys llllooooooooovvvvvvvvvveeeeee your pressies!

And may all of us "FA"!!!

New School Term

Well in a couple of days its back to NIE again! Though this sem's timetable is a little sucky for me, i do hope that i can shift some of e classes so that i can have a 3 day week.. haha.. at least i do not have 8.30 classes.. which i abhor given that i stay on the other end of our "small" island.

Anyway to all out there: all the best for the new semester! and those who are not going back to school - all the best in whatever you are doing for the next few months! Last but not least to my Dear: love ya lots and lets gambatte for this semester! mooooooooooooooooo

Best movie of the year!

"It's simple: kill the Batman."
yep to me the best movie of the year so far. its been a long time since i watched a movie twice, and "The Dark Knight" is the one. Brilliant acting, great script, nice score, exciting action scenes, this movie has it all. I felt that i enjoyed the movie more on the 2nd viewing, as i was able to pay more attention to the various details that i missed on the first viewing.

Ledger was great as the Joker, a perfomance both terrifying and memorable in all the right ways. I like the way he sometimes shows the Joker's insanity when he talks, for his voice will change to one that sounds well.. demon-like at times. Its a pity that we wont get to see him play this role anymore, but that means that this portrayal will always be remembered, and other movie villians in the future will be compared to Ledger's Joker. Gibson will have a field day if he uses this role in his film studies class!

Though some people may find the movie too dark, i love it that way, since Batman has always been a dark comic that was mature and serious tones throughout. Did not like the old Batman movies with Clooney and Kilmer for they were just too bright and colourful! This is the way Batman should be - dark, serious, dry humour and of course, great and entire believable acting, so kudos to the entire cast again!

In short, go watch the movie if you havent! Its 2 over hours long, so please visit the loo before entering, and prepare for an INTENSE movie that keeps you captivated all the way!

5/5 Stars

End of Practicum, Start of School

Sheepy's Post: ^_^

So fast so fast! Monday is going to be the first day of school!
Somehow the holidays seem so short with the insertion of the 5-weeks practicum (TP1). Why does MOE has to put our practicum during our holidays? Where's our right as students? But oh well, I believe there's no other time to put it either. I won't want to have practicum as my actual curriculum in NIE, it would be too SCARY!!!! *shivers and chills*

This new semester is going to be a hectic one with me having 7 modules, the most I have since I started this degree program. But ironically, I am actually looking forward to it. I am getting bored of holidays and cannot wait to start school. haha. Life is really a contradiction.

Hopefully I'll pull through this just like what I have done for the past 3 years. I cannot wait to graduate and to get my hands on the salary I am so deprived of!! It is sheer torture without it!!

Also, it will be fun to spend some time with my friends too! I cannot wait! hee

See ya all in school!!!!

NEW PLACE

Our afarmfortwo.blogspot.com had encountered some problems and we're unable to continue with it. Thus, here we are with a new blog! Tadah~~~~~~ *claps. cheers and hoots of joy*

Hopefully, this blog will be more constantly updated than the old one (sorry to those who kept asking us to update it, but i guess u ppl noe y la~~ practicum n other stuffz). Secondly, this post will be short, since the main gist of it is above, and this is a test post as well to make sure that what the livestock (us) talk about can be seen by all you eeeeeeeeeeeeager readers~
